Originally a geography and PE teacher in Hertfordshire, Dave joined the Advisory Unit for Computer Based Education, Hatfield in 1986 as an advisory teacher and project officer for IT, concentrating on computer-based modelling. Following the closure the Advisory Unit in 1992 Dave spent time as a consultant and managed a remote sensing project at the London Institute of Education before being appointed as Software Manager at National Council for Educational Technology (NCET) in 1993. With NCET's metamorphosis into British Educational Communications and Technology Agency (Becta) Dave is now Head of Curriculum and Institutional Development for Schools, with responsibility for all curriculum activity, software liaison, the Virtual TeacherCentre on the NGfL and senior managers and institutional ICT development policies.

Working with asset holders such as libraries and museums etc. to create new content.
